Getting More Help

You probably found your way to this page looking for more help after reading one of my troubleshooting guides, software lists, or some other piece on my site. If not, be sure to search my site for a solution to your tech problem (which you can do using the search box at somewhere on the edge page here) before following the advice below.

The Best Way to Get More Help with a computer problem or other tech question is to join the conversation on Facebook where I post a wheneverigetaroundtoit “DearMe WTF!” Q&A thread. Posting in a respected tech support forum is another idea. You can read more about both of those ideas below.

Get Personal Help on Facebook

I start a new conversation every once in a while on Facebook called DearMe WTF!. It’s your chance to get free, one-on-one help with your computer problem.

Just leave a comment on that post, describing your issue in as much detail as you can, and I’ll do my best to help. I check for new comments throughout the day when I open the post, as does as at least one other expert I invite. You’re welcome to help too if you like.

Latest Edition: DearMe WTF! (Friday, April 29, 2016)

I usually start a new Help Me! on Facebook in the morning. If you don’t yet see one for today, feel free to use the previous’s. Older posts don’t expire so we can continue to use them as long as needed until we get your problem solved. (I will later on make a new thread once we solved the problem)

Important: Please be specific and thorough when leaving your comment. See “How to Describe Your Problem to a PC Repair Professional” for more on getting the most out of asking for help.

While Facebook is where I interact with my readers the most, I also regularly post about computer support related topics on Twitter and Google+. I send out a monthly email newsletters as well.

Post on a Tech Support Forum

I used to keep a forum here on my SNX site but I retired it in 2013. Luckily, there are several free and well staffed tech support forums out there which are great options if you’d rather take that route.

Some of my favorite computer help forums are Bleeping Computer, Tech Support ForumTech Support Guy, and PC Help Forum. They all appear to be busy and well staffed, important factors if you’d like your question viewed and answered by as many people as possible.

As I mentioned in the section above, please read through my “How to Describe Your Problem to a PC Repair Professional” before posting on any of those forums.

Important: Please know that I don’t regularly participate on those forums. If you need help after working through one of my troubleshooting or how-to guides from this site, getting a hold of me on Facebook (above) is probably a better idea.

Can I Email You?

Email isn’t a great way to get help from me with a computer question. Social networks (like Facebook) are so much faster and allow others to help me help you.

I do like email for things like feedback on my articles, requests for software and service reviews, “thank you” notes, and general comments.

In other words, anything that doesn’t require a response works well for email.

If that sounds more like what you want to talk about, feel free to send me an email.
